Opinionmeter International
Success Story with Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council
|
| |
|
|
Sector: Local Government
Project: Market in the Park, 14 March 2004
Devices: Two Opinionmeter Juniors
Objectives: Capture a sample of visitors to Market
in the Park to identify their needs and wants
Background: ‘Market in the Park’ is a Sunday
market run by Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in the People’s
Park, Dun Laoghaire. After less than a year in service, the market
is still in its infancy and is developing on an ongoing basis.
The County Council wanted to identify why people were coming to
the market, where they came from and how often they visited. An
Opinionmeter survey was developed and deployed by a team of two
staff carrying Opinionmeter Juniors.
The survey lasted for 5 hours.
Outcome: During the survey, 196 surveys were collected.
This accounted for a sample of 10-15% of visitors to the park that
day.
Headline results were of the data were delivered to Jackie Spillane,
Market Manager, within 24 hours of survey completion. “It
was great to have solid quantitative data to tell us what customers
wanted from the market”, commented Spillane. ”The information
provided by the survey will allow us to develop the Dun Laoghaire
market, and others in the county, to include the types of product
our customers want”
